Surveyor Qualifications

Your Participation Can Make A Difference!

Are you looking for a new activity?  IMQ is looking for physicians who may be interested in becoming surveyors for our accreditation programs.

IMQ surveyors contribute directly to improved quality of care for patients across the health care spectrum.  They interact with colleagues throughout the state and see best practices and innovation beyond their own medical community.

The general qualifications for an IMQ surveyor are:

  1. Membership in CMA or another state medical society (required)
  2. Meaningful involvement in a related program
  3. An active career in medicine
  4. Peer recommendations
  5. A letter of recommendation from your county medical society

The qualities of a successful IMQ surveyor are diplomacy, efficiency, fairness, flexibility, good judgment, reliability, excellent communication skills, and an enthusiasm for learning.

IMQ surveyors are entitled to travel expenses and an honorarium.  Every effort is made to schedule surveys in a convenient location, but locations must be clear of conflict of interest for the surveyor.

To ensure that IMQ surveyors are well qualified, new surveyors must attend an annual surveyor training. All beginning surveyors also undergo an observation period prior to actively surveying. For more information, please contact the lead for the program in which you are interested.
