(San Francisco, CA) The Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) has been recognized and approved as an accrediting entity for Ambulatory Surgery Centers and Outpatient Surgery Settings throughout the United States.
Health Net, Cigna and Aetna have all recently been given approval to accept IMQ accreditation during their Facility credentialing process. IMQ will be listed with all of the other accrediting bodies on these providers’ applications for survey nationwide. For Health Net, IMQ is not listed on the letter sent to its providers; however, in the accompanying Hospital & Ancillary Facility Credentialing Application, Attestation & Checklist, IMQ is listed as a provider under section #9, Accreditation/Site Survey.
On April 29, 2016, the Institute for Medical Quality (IMQ) was officially recognized as a national accrediting organization for ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) that participate in the Medicare or Medicaid programs. IMQ understands the unique attributes of ambulatory care settings because most of the organization's surveyors are actively practicing physicians, nurses, and administrators. IMQ believes that its peer-to-peer methodology greatly increases the value of the accreditation process because IMQ surveyors understand how an ASC’s regulatory compliance activities directly impact patient outcomes.
